Race in the United States

The media pays a very significant role in perpetuating the stereotypes. If they characterize a certain group of people to play a given role or ways, their viewers are like to be influenced to emulate them and do the same. If a certain group of people are characterized negatively, this is likely to perpetuate a negative stereotype and would bring in conflicts among the groups. If the perpetuate a positive character in a group, this likely to have a positive impact to the stereotypes. Example of this is Hollywood movies, blacks were characterized as criminals that impacted and perpetuated a negative stereotype to the society that blacks are thugs.

As the television inflict certain characters to a certain group of people, its likely to cause ethnic bias among the society. Stereotype or characterization being the assumptions that are made about the characteristic of all members of a certain group based mostly on the image mostly negative about how other group is like. Example, In America, white Americans are regarded as generous and arrogant compared to African Americans who are regarded as mean and slow in tempers. In these assumptions, not all whites are generous and not all blacks are mean, this has a general infliction about the character of a group but not individuals.

Regarding on how the television is programming their programs, stereotyping is prevalent and also problematic. This is because most groups most groups tend to define themselves according to who they are and not what other groups refer them. If a group is regarded as positive stereotype and a problem occurs, even if it has been done by the member of the group, the blame will be inflicted to the enemy of group with negative stereotype.

Media in general has contributed to the bias that is brought about by the stereotype because most of the programs that are aired by the televisions show a certain group being of a different character that is determined by race, religion or culture therefore causing ethnic and racial bias.

Foreclosure Data Update

Foreclosure activity climbed in three-quarters of the nation’s largest metro areas in the first half of the year compared to the same time a year ago, however Foreclosure Properties declined in some of the hardest hit regions, RealtyTrac reported on Thursday.

The report found that 154 of the 206 metro areas with a population of 200,000 or more posted year-over-year increases in foreclosure activity, which covers everything from the time borrowers, receive a default to the sale of the property via auction or on the traditional real estate market.

The 20 areas with the worst foreclosure rates were in the four states that were most devastated by the housing crisis — Florida, California, Nevada and Arizona. Those were the states where prices climbed the fastest during the boom years and therefore crashed the hardest. Nine of the areas on the top 20 list were in Florida, eight in California, two in Nevada and one in Arizona.

Foreclosure actions took place on more than 1.6 million properties in the first half of the year, the company said. Even in the areas where foreclosures rates are down, the rates still remain three to five times higher than the national average.

Foreclosures tend to drag down home prices, complicating the housing market’s struggle to recover. The housing rebound that economists once expected in the last half of this year will most likely not come so soon. The nation’s stubbornly high unemployment rate and the lenders’ increased willingness to sell more foreclosed properties to the public will most likely increase the number of foreclosures hitting the market.

For a period, lenders held onto homes they had foreclosed upon as they came under political pressure to try and modify the loans of troubled borrowers. But as they get a better handle on which loans are unsalvageable, lenders are starting to complete more foreclosures and put them on the market, several economists have said.

But there are early signs that foreclosure activity may have peaked in some of the most troubled regions, James J. Saccacio, RealtyTrac’s chief executive, said in a statement. Foreclosure activity dropped in nine of the top 10 most severely affected areas.

The Las Vegas area still has the nation’s highest foreclosure rate, with 6.6 percent of its housing units (or 53,525 properties) receiving a foreclosure filing in the first half of the year. But that’s a 15 percent decrease from the comparable period a year ago and a 9 percent decrease from the first half of the year.

Foreclosure activity in the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Fla. metro area, which had the nation’s second highest metro foreclosure rate at 4.98 percent, also slipped. The foreclosure rate there in the first half of the year is down 30 percent from a year ago and 22 percent from the previous six months.

The report collects data from 2,200 counties nationwide that make up more than 90 percent of the U.S. population. Some of the Foreclosure Properties filings captured in the first half of this year may have been recorded in previous time periods.

Newest US Government Shutdown and the Forex Charts

by _cobb

At this point the United States government is moving towards a new budget crisis that is approaching the troubles seen in the recently threatened shut down.  This has created renewed concern for the US Dollar and the US economy at large, which makes for increasing pressure on the US government.  A fractured Democratic and Republican party is not helping things at all, and in fact it is likely that this fractured system will continue to cause problems.  There is not much to be said for where the USD is going on Forex charts, and this is despite a good deal of fear with regard to the European Union’s stability.  Such bold moves being made by the US government to forsake the stability of the economy is a really big problem, and it is not lost on anyone.

The upcoming Presidential election is certain to cause further troubles here, and without solidarity within both parties there is not likely to be any resolution.  By taking all of this into account a trader can gain much insight into what is coming within the market in the coming months.  There is a real sense of instability in both the United States and in Europe, but for completely different reasons.  While the European government is willing to institute austerity the people will not accept them, and the United States government cannot even get that far.  This is something that needs to be evaluated on a day to day basis based on the reports coming in, and if at all possible by keeping up with that latest news releases.

By taking the time to appreciate these fundamental factors a trader dealing with the EUR/USD pair could easily be traded to make some pips.  There just has to be proper money management in play, otherwise losses will of course stack up quickly.  There needs to be a good amount of vigilance at all times when trading this pair over the coming weeks, otherwise there is going to be a lot of opportunity to lose money.  Watch out for new announcements in both the US and the EU as time goes on in the near future,  be sure to stay closely informed as to what is occurring in the news media.  Taking the time to properly evaluate each signal will make it possible to make the right decision, whereas ignoring them will only serve to bring about a disaster.
