The procedure for getting a passport in Miami varies depends on how quickly you need it. Miami residents applying for a new passport must submit their applications in person. Usually, this is done at a passport acceptance facility like a post office or library. The US Department of State maintains a list of all passport acceptance facilities in Miami on its website; the list is viewable here.
At a passport acceptance facility, you will fill out and sign passport acceptance form DS-11. Bring the following documents to prove your eligibility to apply:
Proof of identification, such as your driver’s license or another form of government-issued photo ID. You need both the original (which you’ll keep) and a clear photocopy to send in.
Proof of citizenship, such as a certified copy of your birth certificate with a raised seal. If you were not born in the US, you’ll need your naturalization certificate or a certificate of citizenship.

When you apply at an acceptance facility, you can request regular service, which means that you don’t pay any extra fees and can expect to wait at least 6 weeks for your passport to arrive, or expedited service, which costs an additional $ 60 but cuts the waiting time down to 3 weeks.
Faster Passport Options
If you need your passport more quickly, your best bet is to either make an appointment at the Miami Passport Center or use a private passport expediting company.
The Miami Passport Center is located in the Omni Center at 1501 Biscayne Boulevard; you can make an appointment by calling 1-877-487-2778. The office is open by appointment only, and appointments are only available between the hours of 8am and 3pm Monday through Friday.
Some private passport expediters have offices in or near Miami and allow walk-ins. For example, Rush My Passport is located in West Palm Beach and allows walk-ins from 9:00 am to 6:00pm.
