The problem stemmed from a faulty software update by the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike. This outage affected many sectors, including airlines, banks, media companies, and health systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Impact on Air Travel<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the IT outage, air passengers faced long delays, cancellations, and airport check-in issues. The Federal Aviation Administration (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/\">FAA<\/a>) reported that major U.S. airlines like American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines had to stop all their flights early Friday because of communication problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to FlightAware, over 2,000 flights were canceled by noon ET, and more than 5,300 were delayed.
