Here are some possible and potential reasons behind your passport application getting denied.

If your passport photo breaks the rules

It is one thing to look good in your passport photo but if you make the mistake of looking so good that you break down the rules of passport size photo, that is a different thing altogether. Photos that can’t be accepted are the prime reason behind passport applications getting delayed and held up. If you don’t know when passport photos are considered ineligible, here are some. If the passport photos were taken more than 6 months back or if they are on a background which is anything apart from off-white or plain white or when it features wireless devices and headphones. Both your eyes should remain open and you should don a natural smile. Presently glasses are allowed but it will soon be forbidden from 1 st November, 2016. Hence it’s better to switch to contacts.

Financial fluffs

When you pay for your passport in a wrong way or you submit an amount which is inaccurate, this too may lead to a delay. Are you giving a money order or writing a check? If yes, you need to make sure it is made to the Department of State. An application fee for an adult costs you $110 and an additional $25 processing fee. If you wish to expedite the process of obtaining a passport, it will cost you much more than the usual amount.

Messed up photocopies

You can certainly blame the good old photographer as long as denied applications are concerned. Ensure that the photocopies which you use to apply are on white 8 1/2×11-inch standard size paper and not double-sided. Shrinking the size of the image is a complete No but you can always enlarge it. Make sure your photocopies are legible and clear and shouldn’t have anything else written on it.

So, if you find your passport application getting denied, you may watch out for any of the above mentioned reasons. Check if everything is fine with the process of application as even a small glitch can delay and cancel the process of obtaining a passport.
